Pet name - the name of your pet

Pet name - the name of your pet, thousands of names for your pet. Tips on choosing a name.

You've finally got the pet of your dreams, and now it needs a name.

What criteria will you use to give it the right name?
The first thing you need to remember is that you will use this name many times during the day.
So it has to be a pleasant, easy-to-understand name. It also needs to be a name that your pet can easily recognize. Pet names that are difficult to pronounce will take your pet longer to assimilate or get used to. There are, of course, animals that you don't really need to worry about naming, like fish, for example. In this case, your imagination is the only limit.
Preferably, only choose a name for your pet when it has never been called any other name before. Changing your pet's name can be a difficult task, especially for the animal. You should always try to keep the same name for your pet once it has been chosen and "baptized".
So how do you choose a name for your young pet?
Here's a short guide to make this process easier for you, the people around you and, most importantly, your pet:
(1) Everyone involved in pet ownership should be part of the process of choosing the pet's name. Adults and children should participate in the process and everyone should feel involved in giving their pet a name.
2. The name you choose for your pet will often be used in public areas. Bear this in mind when choosing a name.
3. The name should not sound like a command you might give your pet. Make sure that the pronunciation of the name can't be confused with something you're trying to tell your pet to do. For example: "Leave it" could be confused with "lie down".
4. Your pet's name should reflect its personality and yours too. Remember, your pet will grow up and a name given to a small, tiny creature may not be suitable in a few years' time.
It's better to wait a little longer and rethink the name you choose, rather than changing your pet's name every week. The sooner you start calling your pet by name, the sooner you can start teaching your pet commands that you would like him/her to learn.
The choices for naming your pet are countless. You can get inspiration from many sources, such as TV, books, comics, celebrities, characters and much more. Choose your pet's name wisely, as it will be a word you will say or hear several times during the day and for a long time.
